All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/il/ilfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sharon Buethner sjlbuethner-sheminee@att.net August 6, 2007, 12:30 pm Raymond Independent, December 19, 1918 Mrs. Wedekind dies On Sunday morning, December 15, 1918, occurred the death of Mrs. Wilhelmina Wedekind, widow of the late Richard Wedekind, at the hour of 5:30 o'clock, at her home in this city, at the age of 68 years, 10 months and eight days, her death being due to dropsy. Deceased was a native of Germany, being born Feb. 7, 1850, and came to America when about nineteen years of age and settled in Montgomery County, and resided on the farm until moving to this city, where she has since resided up to the time of her death. On March 28, 1873, she was united in marriage to Richard Wedekind, who departed this life on December 11, 1906. To this union were born five children as follows: Veleda, wife of Albert Chapman, of Raymond; Effie, wife of Guy Mitts, of Mulberry Grove; Alvina, wife of Wm. Weingrand, Hillsboro. Two sons, Voltaire and John, proceded her in death. She is survived by one brother, Fred Hillman, of Irington [Ireton], Iowa, and thirteen grand children. She was a member of the Lutheran Church. She was a loving mother and kind neighbor, ever ready to help those in need and numbered her friends by the score, and will be sadly missed by them. The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian Church, Wednesday morning, December 18th, at the hour of 10:30 o'clock, Rev Cassius A. Garst officiating. Interment was made in Asbury cemetery south of town.
