Deceased was born in Fillmore township and was probably the oldest native born citizen of the county at the time of his death. His wife, Druscilla Lynn Wright, died several years ago. He leaves four living children: Jefferson of Ramsey, Emerson of Houston, Texas, Mrs. Celestia Whitten, who lives south of Fillmore, and Mrs. Camelia Nelson of Fillmore. Besides his four children he leaves 21 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. At one time he was the owner of 500 acres of land in Fillmore township and was for years one of the most prominent farmers of the east side of the county. The funeral services were held Monday at 2 o'clock PM at the residence, Rev. Baker officiating. Interment was made at Fillmore cemetery. We would like to give Elijah Wright a more extended notice, but time and space forbids. He lived long enough to see remarkable changes in the country, for when he was a grown man Fillmore township and in fact most of the county was yet a wild, uncultivated prairie, and his stories of the early days were intensely interesting. Additional Comments: Tim Casey is a descendant of Elijah Whitten and Charity Duckett and a descendant of John Casey and Drucilla Hill. Elijah Whitten is a descendant of both.
