Obituary of Warren Moses Hulbert - Montgomery County, Illinois This is the obit of Warren Moses Hulbert, the paternal 2nd great grandfather of Olin Clayton of Raymond. "FREE-PRESS GAZETTE" On January 1, Warren Moses Hulbert, aged 82 years, 7 months and sixteen days. With the beginning of the new year, another of our aged and respected citizens passed from earth to that great beyond, in the person of Warren M. Hulbert. Residing south of the city limits, after a short illness. After the deceased had taken a light breakfast, his son Warren, with whom he had been making his home, after ascertaining that he was feeling some better, brought the milk to the creamery and before he reached home his father had expired. He had a severe cold, which settled on his lungs. On the morning of his death he felt some easier and it was not thought that he was in any immediate danger. The deceased was a reserved and inoffensive old gentleman, highly respected by all his acquaintances. He was born in Somers, Toland County, Connecticut, and came to Illinois first settling near Pittsfield, Pike County, in 1859 and four years later moved to this vicinity, first settling on what is known as the Travis farm, and shortly afterwards on the tract of land just south of the city limits, on which he lived until his death, making his home of late years with his son Warren. He was first married to Miss Cenith Tooley in Massachusetts. To this union was born one daughter, Miss Elvira Lohr, now a resident of Campbell, Texas. This union was only of short duration, the mother dying eighteen months after the marriage. He afterwards married Miss Laura Tooley, a sister of his first wife, in New York. This union was blessed with one son, E.M. Hulbert, at one time publisher of the FREE-PRESS GAZETTE, now publisher of the Lancaster Texas Herald. After ten years of married life with his second wife, she was also called to that great beyond. His third marriage, this time with Miss Lizzie Wilson, was blessed with three children, one son dying in infancy, and two daughters, Miss Jennie, a resident of Alton, and Miss Hattie Stanley, the latter preceding him in death a few years ago. After the death of his third wife, he married Miss Martha Traylor, who blessed him with two children, one daughter who died in infancy, and Warren F., with whom he spent his declining years. His last consort preceded him in death a little over one year ago. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Baptist Church conducted by the pastor, Rev. Knowlton. Interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
