Last Will and Testament of James Traylor - Montgomery County, Illinois The following is the last Will and Testament of James Traylor, one of the earliest settlers in Montgomery County, coming to Montgomery County approx 1840 from Dinwiddie County, Virginia. James Traylor is the paternal 4th great grandfather of Olin Clayton of Raymond. James and his wife Barbara are buried in the old Nichols Cemetery in Coffeen, Il and their stones are in beautiful condition for their age. James died February 5, 1852 his wife Barbara died June 12, 1857. The Will is on file at the Montgomery County Courthouse. "LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF JAMES TRAYLOR" In the name of God Amen I James Traylor of the County of Montgomery and State of Illinois being aware that life is uncertain and death shure. I do make and confirm this my last Will and Testimony. First I bequeth my Soul to God who gave it and my boddy to the Earth from Whence it Came. Second as To my Property I gave in manor and for me as follows To wit: I give to my much beloved wife Barberry Traylor all the property I duly possessed of to be used prudently. Also I leave her in the care of my son Caleb W. Traylor and at her death all that is left to remain in the hands of CW Trayloras his property and to his heirs forever. In testimony whereof I have here unto set my hand and affix my seal on this fifth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and fifty one all done in the presence of James B.
