Grierson dagrierson@mail.tqci.net October 1997 General Grierson's bible record Louisa Grierson Born: April 16, 1816, Dublin, Ireland, on Mark Street, 6 p.m.; d. Sept., 1911; bapt.: May 15, 1816; place of death Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois; bur. Jacksonville East Cemetery; m. Steel Semple, Oct. 24, 1839, Trumbull County, Ohio. At the funeral, Dr. Short read the inscriptions from a bible that had been in the possession of the descendent for many years. A bible with a history. As he read from the book he commented on its antiquity and its significance as a heirloom. The book was printed by George Grierson, who was printer to the King's Most Excellent Majesty at the King's Arms and Two Bibles in Essex Street, 1740." Dr. Short spoke of the great value of such a book, valuable because it was the word of God, valuable for its antiquity and from the fact that it had a personal relation in the life of Mrs. Semple. Note: After considerable research I located the records from the bible spoke of in the above obituary. Here are my findings for future posterity.
