Kills Wife and Defies Police
At Jacksonville Alonzo Pitt, in a fit of jealousy shot and instantly killed 
his wife. He then barricaded himself in the house armed with a shotgun and 
threatened to kill any one who tried to enter. Before the arrival of the 
police Pitt attempted to kill himself by cutting his throat and stabbing 
himself over the heart with a knife.
