Hoffman, miner, aged 57, married, was fatally injured. Deceased came late that morning, and instead of walking into his room, he jumped into the last car while the trip was going down the slope. It is supposed he had not got properly into the car, as he was struck by a trap door at the entrance and bruised internally. He lived until the 16th of May. The evidence showed that the company had repeatedly issued orders forbidding the men to ride down the slope. Deceased leaves a widow and four children, two of whom are able to work.
