John Miller, a blacksmith, died at 9:25 am at his home.  He was born March 1, 
1840 in Germany and was the youngest child of Henry and Catherine Craeger 
Miller.  He enlisted as a blacksmith in the Civil War serving in Company A, 
11th Illinois Cavalry.  He returned to Peoria County following his honorable 
discharge, where he opened a blacksmith shop in Smithville with Mr. Frank 
McCann.  He was a member of the Methodist church.  He was married to Irene 
Toland June 7, 1866
