The Times - Pekin, IL, June 13, 1979 Mrs. Neel Dies At 76; Rites Set MAPLETON - Mrs. Lena M. Neel, 76, of Rt. 1, Mapleton, died at 3:10p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 1979, in St. Francis Hospital, Peoria, where she had been a patient since May 18. Funeral services will be held at 11a.m. Thursday in Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Rev. Howard Bedell will officiate and burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8pm today at the chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Mrs. Neel was an area resident for 25 years. She was head of the mechanical store at Peoria State Hospital until 1955. Born in Jefferson County, March 25, 1903, she was a daughter of Hugh and Margaret (Robinson) Kelley. She married Warner H. Neel at Mount Vernon on December 29, 1923. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Donna Jean DeLong of Bartonville; four grandchildren; two brothers, Earl Kelley of Pekin and Carter Kelley of Peoria; two sisters, Mrs. Edith Cravens of Avon Park, Florida, and Mrs. Lucille Erickson of Atlanta, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews. Cameron Lane, will be held at 11am Saturday in the Davison Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. V. Clayton Nutter will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Mr. Neel died at 4:58pm, Wednesday, April 23, 1986, in Methodist Medical Center, Peoria. Born October 28, 1901, in Wayne County, he was the son of Thomas and Violet (Hambrick) Neel. He married Lena May Kelley on December 29, 1923 at Mt. Vernon. She died on June 12, 1979, at Peoria. Surviving are on daughter, Donna DeLong of Mapleton; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother, Maurice Neel of Glasford; and three sisters, Mildred R. Sturm of Peoria, and Golda Allen and Mabel Gammon, both of Wayne City. One brother and one sister preceded him in death. He farmed in the area 25 years and was a member of the Peoria Elks Lodge. Peoria Journal Star - Peoria, IL, May 19, 1997 Mildred Ruth Sturm Peoria - Mildred R. Sturm, 89, of 7450 W. Branch Drive died at 7am, Saturday, May 17, 1997, at her residence. Born July 12, 1907, in Wayne County to Thomas H. and Cora V. (Hambrick) Neel, she married Harold Sturm. He died September 23, 1960, in Peoria. Three sisters and four brothers also preceded her in death. Surviving are 14 neices and nephews. She owned and operated Sturm Freightways in Peoria. She was a member of Peoria Emblem Club, Peoria Golf League, and Senior Golf League. She was of the Methodist faith. Services will be at 1pm Tuesday at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Garren Forth will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the chapel. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery. Peoria Journal Star - Peoria, IL, January 1996 Rocena DeLong-Raridan PEORIA - Rocena Frances DeLong-Raridan, 80, formerly of Bartonville, died Tuesday, January 2, 1996, at Folsom Nursing Home in Folsom, California. Born June 16, 1915, in Vincennes, Indiana, to Pop and Nellie (Nash) Howder, she married George DeLong in 1931 in Vincennes. He died in 1946 in Pottstown. She married William Cheeseman in 1948 in Peoria. He died in 1960. She married Frederick Raridan in 1962 in Bartonville. He died in 1995 in Peoria. One daughter, Wanda Belford, one son, David DeLong, and 12 brothers and sisters also preceded her in death. Surviving are on daughter, Karen Fleming of Folsom; two sons, George "Robby" DeLong of Brimfield and Marvin DeLong; one sister, Imo Shutts of Bartonville; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great- grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 1pm Monday at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria. The Rev. Edwin R. Beasley will officiate. There will be no visitation.
