Pioneer Resident of Perry County No More Uncle Mose Harriss Departs This Life At His Home in Tamaroa, August 27, 1915 J.M. Harriss was born in Allen county, Kentucky in the year 1844; departed this life at Tamaroa, Ill., August 27, 1915, aged 71 years and 23 days. He with his parents came to Tamaroa when 2 1/2 years old, and has spent comparatively the remainder of his life in Illinois. He was united in marriage to Nancy Savannah Lynch August 8, 1861. To this union was born four sons, James, Thomas, Walter and William, and four daughters, Maria, Rinda, Effie and Augusta. All have preceded him to the great beyond except James, Thomas and William. His wife departed this life May 21, 1912. He was united in marriage to Miss Dycie Bridges May 22, 1913. He enlisted in Co. F 13th Regiment Ill. Cavalry, and served two years, one month and eight days, having been discharged February 1, 1865. He was converted about 40 years ago and became a charter member of the Free Baptist church at Antioch, one mile west of Tamaroa, giving the land for said church, he and John Burlison doing much towards the building of the church. The church organization was later transferred to Tamaroa, and deceased was a faithful member and deacon since its organization, always loving his church, serving it as a trustee, and many years the janitor. He always loved right and opposed wrong. He was a loving husband, a kind father, a good neighbor and a loyal citizen.
