Kunze, 74, retired DuQuoin businessman, died at Marshall Browning Hospital at 9:40P.M. Tuesday, October 18. Kunze, who resided at 29 North Division street and was popularly known as “Bob”, had been in failing health for the past year and hospitalized since August 24. The body was removed to Weinberg Funeral Home. Arrangements for services are incomplete. In 1914, Kunze, in partnership with the late Frank Long, opened a hardware store in the Brookings building on Main street. He sold his interest to Long 10 years later, but the firm retained the name of “Long and Kunze” until 1937, when it changed hands. At the time of his death, Kunze had considerable downtown real estate holdings.
