Piatt County Illinois Obituary Joel Dunn, © Jean Feaster Augusta, Kansas The Decatur Herald (Decatur, Illinois) - April 29, 1927: Dunn Funeral at Bement Stroke of Paralysis Fatal to 80-Year Old Former Resident of Town BEMENT, April 29- Joel Dunn, 80, former resident of Bement, died in his home at Gorham at 12:35 o'clock Thursday morning, following a stroke of paralysis. The body will be brought here Friday and funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon in the First Christian church. Burial will be in Bement cemetery. Mr. Dunn was born in 1847 in Piatt county, where his parents were among the first settlers. He attended schools in Piatt county and was graduated from Eureka college. Afterwards, he taught in Piatt and Moultrie county schools, and once served as superintendent of Lovington schools. Later he was a surveyor.
