Monticello Bulletin, Friday, February 13, 1914, page 1 JOSEPH MOORE DIES IN BEMENT. JOSEPH MOORE was born in Scioto Co., Ohio August 4th 1826 and died at his home in Bement, Ill, Feb 8, 1914 age 87 years, 6 months 4 days. When he was three years old his parents removed to Montgomery Co. Ind. where he grew to vigorous manhood on his father's farm. Indiana continued to be his home until the year 1854 when he moved to Piatt Co. Ill. in which county he resided till he was called hence. He took up his residence in Bement township where he purchased his first farm. During the remaining years of his active life he accumulated a competency for his declining years. MR. MOORE was married in Montgomery Co. Ind. March 11, 1852 to MISS HARRIETT HIXON a native of Indiana. She died in Piatt Co., Ill. April 30, 1857. She was the mother of three children of whom two died in Infancy. One, ELIZA JANE, grew to womanhood, became the wife of JAMES ELLARS and died in Douglas Co. March 11, 1885. MR. MOORE was married the second time to LYDIA M. MONROE in Champaign Co. Ill. 1862. This union was blessed with 7 children, five boys and two girls. Four boys preceded the father to a better land. Those living are: NANCY ANNA LANDIS, EMORY C. MOORE, and LUCY BAKER. MRS. MOORE died Jan. 8, 1902. MR. MOORE was married to MRS. FLORA D. BRISTOW of Sadorus, Ill. April 19. 1904. She with three children; ten grand- children and two great grandchildren and one sister are left to mourn the death of the departed. MR. MOORE was one of a family of fifteen children and the only surviving member of said family is MRS. ROSE (should be RHODES) of Atwood, Ill.
