Piatt Co. Journal-Republican, Thursday, 16Sept1982 KENNETH HALCOM Kenneth L. HALCOM, 63, of West Lebanon, Ind., formerly of Hoopeston and Cerro Gordo, was dead on arrival at 1:30 a.m., Thursday. Sept. 9, 1982, at Williamsport Community Hospital, Williamsport, Ind. Funeral services were 1 p.m. Sunday at the Hamilton-Orr Funeral Home, Hoopeston. Burial was in Mackville Cemetery, Atwood. Mr. HALCOM was born February 1919 at Maroa, a son of SIMPSON and LOVEY MAE GOKEN HALCOM. He married PHYLLIS VAN VLEET Aug. 2, 1941. at St. Charles, Mo. She preceded him in death July 11, l980. He then married MARY L. LAND May 16, 1982, at West Lebanon, Ind. She survives. Survivors also include four sons, MICHAEL HALCOM of Danville, TERRY HALCOM of Brea, Calif., GARY HALCOM and WILLIAM HALCOM, both of Hoopeston; two daughters, LINDA BARNETT of Decatur and KAREN SNYDER of Georgetown; two stepsons, DAVID LAND of Thawville and DONALD LAND of West Lebanon, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; three sisters, LORA MAE KNIGHT of Bakersfield, Calif., LOUISE BANNING of Argenta and MARGARET BLOCH of Oreana. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. Mr. HALCOM was a retired cook. He had formerly resided in the Cerro Gordo area and had attended Cerro Gordo schools. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a gunner in the U.S. Air Force.
