Niclolas Leischner died at his home, 1301 West University Avenue, Urbana, Illinois, at 12:45 o'clock Wednesday, April 14, following an illness of four weeks duration, due to the infirmaties of old age. He was born in the village of Hershel of Saxony Welmer, Germany, August 16, 1841. He served in the Austro-Prussian war of 1862-66 and left that old country in 1867 coming to Mansfield, Illinois, where he was united in marriage with Johanna Hesse in 1873. To this union eight children were born: Wm Leischner, Fisher, Illinois; Mrs Ida Hansens, Champaign; Mrs. Minnie Leistman, Urbana; Mrs. C.C. Leistman, Mahomet; Mrs. Louise Synnott, Alief, Texas; two sons and one daughter having preceded him in death. In 1875 they moved to DeLand and lived on a farm near there for twenty- seven years. In 1902 they moved to Monticello, where on January 28 his wife died and that fall he moved to Champaign where he was married to Mrs. Henderson in February, 1904, then he moved to his present home in Urbana, where his second wife died, September 16 1921. He is also survived by one stepson, sixteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held in St John's Lutheran church, Urbana, Saturday morning at 11: o'clock. Mr Leischner was a member of this church and the services were conducted by its pastor, Rev. Stiegemeyer.
