Havens 1864-1910 New Canton Press, January 20, 1910 - Come to Her Eternal Rest. The funeral of Mrs. Havens was held from the Union church Thursday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Rhodes of Barry officiating. The choir was composed of members of both churches. The pall bearers were J. E. Temple, W. ? Baucom, L. M. Baker, P. M. Godfrey, Benj. and L. Gard. The local Women's Relief Corps gave flowers, as well as others. Mrs. Havens has been a familiar sight to the people of New Canton for many, many years, and there are few who have lived here since the war that didn't know her. The following obituary was read at the funeral: Sarah F. Saxbury was born in Pike County, Illinois, October 18, 1845. She was united in marriage to Chas. S. Havens, December 22, 1864. To this union were born seven children, four sons and three daughters. One daughter has preceded her mother to the Better Land. Six children survive her: Henry, Peter, William, George, Anna and Sophrona; fifteen grand- children, one sister and other relatives. She was a faithful and consistent member of the Christian Church, and also of Women's Relief Corps No. 90.
