All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/il/ilfiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: John McCullough johnmcc_95726@yahoo.com February 27, 2007, 5:12 pm Source: Randolph County Circuit Court Written: November 11, 1862 Recorded: 1863 I, George Gordon of the County of Randolph and the State of Illinois being of sound mind and memory and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs while I am blessed with mind and power to do so, and do hereby make publish and declare this my last will and testament, in manner and form following to wit: First, I will that all my just debts (if any) and my funeral expenses be fully paid, Second, it is my will that my dear wife Nancy Gordon have full and entire possession of the house and plantation on which I now reside during her life time with full power and authority to rent or lease the same and to have for her own use all proceeds of the same, and also $100 in money to be paid to her each year of her life out of my personal estate, which sum $100, I will shall be paid to her as soon after my death as the same can be collected and then $100 yearly thereafter during her life. Third, I hereby will to the American Bible Society the sum of $500 to be paid as soon as the same can conveniently be done after the death of said wife, which sum I wish to be paid out of my personal estate if there should be enough left after paying the bequest made to my said wife and bequest to herein after made; Fourth, I will that each of my grandchildren, two wit, Mary Mace, George A. Gordon, Henry E. Gordon, Parker Gordon, Abram Gordon, Noel Gordon, heirs of Henry S. Gordon and Alonso Glore and Gordon Glore heirs of Mary P. Glore have a new Bible worth $10 each. Also I will and that Georgi Ann Harlow have a new Bible worth $10, also I will that George and Alexander Gordon, my nephews have each a new Bible worth $10 each, also I will that Jacob Hawkins have a new Bible worth $10, I also will that my son Henry S. Gordon and Mary P. Glore have a new Bible a piece worth $15 each. Fifth, I hereby will that my daughter Margaret Harlow be paid the sum of one dollar only out of all my estate that's sum being all that she deserves from my property aside from what she has already got. Sixth, it is my will that my executor or who I will here in after appoint shall sell all the lands and lots of lands that I may own at the time of my death, at public sale in such pieces or parcels as my said executor or may think best for my estate and to make good and sufficient deeds to the purchasers thereof, and the proceeds thereof after the before mentioned bequests are paid, I will to my son Henry S. Gordon and my daughter Mary P. Glore in equal parts provided however that the this home place nor any part thereof shall be sold by my said executor during the lifetime of my wife Nancy. And I do hereby appoint John Campbell the executor of this my last will and testament whereof I have herein to set my hand and seal in the presence of who I request to subscribe their names as witness to the same this 11th day of November 1862.
