Cross, 77 of 4627 12th St., Rock Island. Are 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island, where he was a member. Burial is in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military rites conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wheelan Funeral Home, Rock Island, with a wake service at 7:30. A memorial fund has been established. Mr. Cross died Thursday, Nov. 28, 1996 at Trinity Medical Center, East Campus, Moline. He was born Nov. 3 1919 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Austin G. and Josephine Lewis, Cross. He married Mary R Graves Sept. 13, 1941, in Rock Island. He was employed as a salesman for Leath Furniture, Davenport, for 25 years, retiring in 1984. In earlier years he was employed at the former Franc's Furniture, Davenport, for 15 years. He was a World War II Marine veteran who served in the Pacific. He enjoyed golf. Survivors include the widow; daughters and sons-in-law, Rita J. and James J. Martin, Huntington Beach, Calif., Maureen S. Schnell, Ophiem, Denise A. Moreland and Patricia M. and Tim Beckman, all of Rock Island, and Barbra J. Kelley, Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, James P. and Maria Cross, East Moline, Thomas G and Sharon Cross, Moline, Joseph S.D. I and Denise Cross and Vincent P. Cross , all of Rock Island, and Edward A. and Kathy Cross, Davenport; 47 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in- law, William and June Cross, Muskegon, Mich.; and daughter-in-law, Karen Cross, Moline. Sons, Steven L. Cross, died Feb 17 1960, John Michael Cross, Aug. 20, 1988, and David Cross, March 18 1996.
