Clarke, 88, Veteran Moline Painter, Is Dead Daniel Joseph Clarke, 88, painting and decorating contractor in Moline for many years , died at 5:30 last night in his home at 844 Nineteenth avenue after an illness of a week. Funeral services will be held at 8 Saturday morning at the Furgie funeral home and at 9 at St. Mary`s Catholic church, the Rev. Enos Barnes officating. Burial will be in St. Mary`s cemetery in East Moline The Rosary will be recited at 8:15 tomorrow evening in the funeral home. The body will remain at the funeral home where friends may call after 2 tomorrow afternoon Mr Clarke was born Jan. 1, 1858, in Nashville, Tenn., a son of Jeremiah Clarke, a Lieutenant in the confederate army during the Civil war. He came to Moline 67 years ago, where he married Alice McDonald on Oct. 27, 1880. She died June 25, 1937. Mr. Clarke retired six uears ago. He was a member of St. Mary`s church and of Camp 38 Modern Woodmen of America. Mr. Clarke retired 6 years ago. Surviving are a son, Ben, in South Africa; a daughter, Miss Mae Clarke of Moline; and a grandson.
