MINNIE GRIFFIN Mrs. Minnie Griffin, 83, Route 2, East Moline, died at 7:25 last night in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lena Whipple, East Moline. Services will be at 1:30 Thursday afternoon in the Esterdahl Chapel with the Rev. David Goodwin, pastor of the Watertown Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Bowlesburg Cemetery, Friends may call after 4 tomorrow afternoon at the chapel. Mrs. Griffin, the former Minnie Hansen, daughter of Claus and Annie Hansen, was born Sept. 13, 1875, in East Moline, and resided in this community her entire life. She was married to Joseph G. Griffin on March 12, 1896. She was of Protestant faith. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Whipple, East Moline, and Mrs. Hazel Walters, Moline; six sons, Ralph, Colona; Clyde and Warren, both of East Moline, and Roy, Coal Valley; 48 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Her husband, three sons and a daughter preceded her in death." Additional Comments: Minnie states in the 1920 census that both of her parents were born in Holstein, Germany. Her father, Claus, was living with the family at the time of the census and he too gives Holstein, Germany as his birth place. Minnie's mother had died previous to the 1920 census. Minnie married Joseph Finley G. Griffin in Moline, Rock Island County, Illinois on March 12th, 1896, and they had a total of twelve children during their marriage; Infant, Ralph, Bert F., Clyde I., Lina M., Pearl, Owen W., Lloyd A., LeRoy E., Hazel Eleanor, Joseph Finley Jr., and Warren Noah Griffin. She is buried with her husband and with many other family members at the Bowlesburg Cemetery, Silvis, Hampton Township, Rock Island County, Illinois.
