Griffin, 76, of 3302 38th St., Moline, died Monday, Aug. 19, 1991, at Illini Hospital, Silvis. Services are 1 p.m. Thursday at Union Congregational Church, Moline, where he was a member. Burial is in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military services conducted by East Moline Legion Post 227. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Esterdahl Mortuary Ltd., Moline. Memorials may be made to the church or the Visiting Nurses Association, Moline. Mr. Griffin was born Feb. 14, 1915, in Moline, the son of Joseph Finley and Minnie Hanson Griffin. He married Jennie M. Wendell Dec. 31, 1936, in Silvis. He was a combine repairman at the former International Harvester Works, East Moline, for 334 years, retiring in 1970. Earlier he had worked at the Ferry Coal Mines on 41st St., Moline, from 1929-1933. He was a member of American Legion Post 227. He was a World War II Army Veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and bowling. The survivors listing has been omitted for living persons; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and brothers, living."
