CONSENT OF James Biggard I, James Biggard of Rock Island in the County of Rock Island and State of Illinois, stepfather of Leonard Feiler a minor child of mine, do hereby consent to the adoption of said child by James E. and Catherine Lindsay in manner and form as provided by an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Illinois, approved February 27, A.D. 1874. Lucian Adams Judge of said Court: Your petitioners James E. and Catherine Lindsay of Rural Township in said County, would respectfully show unto your Honor: That he (sic) is a resident of said County, and is desirous of adopting a child so as to render it capable of inheriting his (sic) estate. That the name of said child is Leonard Feiler that it was of the age of three years on the twenty-third day of November last, and is a male child. And further, that your petitioners desire the name of said child changed to that of James Leonard Lindsay. Your petitioner (sic) would further show unto your Honor that the parents of said child are both dead, but the stepfather is still living and consents to the adoption of said child by your petitioners as will appear from written consent filed herewith. And further, that said petitioners are of sufficient ability to bring up said child and furnish suitable nurture and education for it. And that it would, therefore, be to the interest of said child to become the adopted child of your petitioner (sic). Your petitioners would further show that the stepfather of said child has had due notice of the time when, and the place where, this application would be made, as will appear by a copy of such notice filed herewith. Your petitioner (sic) would, therefore, pray this Honorable Court to make an order declaring said child to be the adopted child of your petitioners and capable of inheriting their estate, and that the name of said child be changed to that of James Leonard Lindsay as provided by the Act of the General Assembly of the State of Illinois, Approved February 22, A.D. 1867. /s/ James E. And now on this day, the above cause coming on to be heard upon the petition and proofs adduced in support of the facts therein stated, and it appearing to the Court from the petition and evidence herein that said petitioner is (sic) a resident of said County, and desires to adopt said child; that said child is a male, and the age of three years on the twenty-third of November A.D. 1881. And further, that said petitioners desire the name of said child changed to that of James Leonard Lindsay That the parents of said child are dead, but the Stepfather is living, and consents to the adoption of said child by said petitioners; and further, that said petitioners are of sufficient ability to bring up said child and furnish suitable nurture and education for it. And that it would, therefore, be to the interest of said child to be the adopted child of said petitioners. And it further appearing that the Stepfather of said child has had due notice of the time when, and the place where, said petitioners would make the application for an order in this cause, it is therefore ordered and adjudged by the Court that the said Leonard Feiler be the adopted child of said petitioners and capable of inheriting their estate; that the name of said child be changed to that of James Leonard Lindsay and that said petitioners pay the costs of this proceeding. /s/ Lucian Adams Co.
