Kendall) Between Elijah Breeden and Patsy his wife of the County of Sangamon and State of Illinois of the one part and John H. Kendall of the County and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in consideration of the Sum of Four hundred dollars to him in hand paid or secured so as to be paid the receipt is hereby acknowledged the said Breeden and Patsy his wife hath this day bargained, sold and by these presents doth bargain sell alien etc and convey unto the said John H. Kendall the West half of the South East quarter of Section Twelve in Township Sixteen North of Range Six west in the District of Lands offered for Sale at Springfield Illinois, Containing Eighty acres---- To have and to hold the aforesaid Tract of Land and premises with the appertenances thereunto belonging unto the Said Kendall his heirs and assigns forever and the Said Breeden and Patsy his wife doth by these presents warrent and forever Defend the afoursaid land and premises against the Claim or claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever. In Testimony whereof we have hereunto Set our names and affixed our Seals the day and year first above written-- M. Mobley Elija Breeden (Seal) her Patsy x Breeden (Seal) mark State of Illinois ) Sangamon County ) Elijah Breeden & Patsy his wife personally came before me this day who are personally known to me and Severally acknowledged their Signatures to the within Deed to be their free and voluntary act for the purposes therein mentioned And the Said Patsy being Informed of the contents hereof and Examined by me apart from her Said husband acknowledged that she signed the Same without any coercion from her said husband-- Given under my hand and Seal the 23 day March 1835 SS M.
