Edwards of the County of Sangamon and State of Illinois of the second part. Witnesseth that the said Parties of the first part for and in Consideration of the sum of Two hundred & forty Dollars in hand paid by the said party of the second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted Bargained and sold and by these presents dogrant bargain and sell unto the said party of the Second part his heirs and assigns a Certain Tract of land situate lying and being in the County of Sangamon and State of Illinois known and designated as follows to wit:the South east quarter of the South east quarter of Section Twenty and North east quarter of North east quarter of Section twenty nine all in Township fourteen North range Seven west- third principal meridian Containing eighty acres more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid Tract or parcel of land together with all and Singular the privileges and appurtenances therunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to the only proper use and benefit of him the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever. And the said parties of the first part for themselves heirs Executors and administrators do Covenant to and with the said party of the Second part that they are lawfully Seized have full right to Convey and will forever warrant and defend the said Tract of Land from the claim of them the said Parties of the first part their heirs and assigns and against the claim or claims of any other person whomsoever. In Testimony whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and Seals the day and year first above written. In presence of} Jno Grigg John Thompson} Nancy Grigg William Elliott} State of Pennsylvania} I John Thompson one of the Aldermen of the City of City of Philadelphia }Philadelphia ex officio Justice of the peace do certify that John Grigg and Nancy his wife whose signatures appear to the foregoing Deed and who are personally known to me to be the Persons described in and who Executed the same did Seperally ack- nowledge that they had executed the said Conveyance for the uses and purposes therein mentioned. And the said Nancy having been by me made acquainted with the Contents of the said Deed and Examined separate and apart from her said husband acknow- ledged that she had Executed the same and relinquished her Dower to the premises therein Conveyed voluntarily freely and without compulsion of her said husband. Given under my hand and Seal this Fifteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty. John Thompson Philadelphia City and County SS} I Anthony W. Olwine esq Prothonotary of the Court of Common Pleas for the County of Philadelphia do certify that John Thompson Esq by whom the within attestation is made whose name is thereto subscribed was at the time of making thereof and still is an Alderman in and for the City of Philadelphia and ex-officio a Justice of the Peace duly commissioned and sworn to all whose acts as such full faith and credit are and ought to be given as well in Courts of Judicature as elsewhere.
