Burton} of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fiftytwo, between John Grigg of the City of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania – Bookseller and Nancy Grigg his wife of the first part, and Edward D. Burton of the County of Sangamon and State of Illinois of the Second part. Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in consideration of the Sum of Two hundred & Sixty Seven 99/100 Dollars in Hand paid by the said party of the Second part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents us grant bargain and sell unto the said party of the Second part his heirs and assigns a Certain Tract of land situate lying and being in the County of Sangamon and State of Illinois known and designated as follows to wit: the South half of north East quarter of Section Twentynine Township fourteen North range Seven west of third principal Meridian Containing Eighty acres more or less. To have and to hold the aforesaid Tract or Parcel of land together with all and Singular the privileges and appurtenances therunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to the only Proper use and benefit of him the said party of the Second Part his heirs and assigns forever, and the said parties of the first part for themselves heirs Executors and Administrators do Covenant to and with the said party of the Second part that they are lawfully Seized have full right to convey and will forever warrant and defend the said Tract of Land from the Claim of them the said Parties of the first part their heirs and assigns and against the Claim or Claims of any other person whomsoever. In Testimony whereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto Set their hands and Seals the day and year first above written.
