Son of Mrs. Alice Ackerman, 913 South Fourth street, Springfield. Born September 29, 1891, in Springfield. Entered service December, 1917, in Chicago. Received his training at Camp Johnston, Fla. Sailed overseas in March, 1918, on the British Olympic. Was in France when the Armistice was signed. Discharged June 14, 1919, at Camp Mills.
