ACKERMAN Corporal, Battery F, 149th Field Artillery, Rainbow Division, U. S. A. Son of Bernard and Theresa Ackerman, Staunton, Ill. Born March 1, 1893. Enlisted in First Illinois Field Artillery, Battery F, June 27, 1917, in Springfield, served on Mexican border. Organization became 149th Field Artillery, or 42nd Rainbow Division. Sailed overseas October 18, 1917. In action on Lorraine front, Battle of Chalons, St. Mihiel and Meuse-Argonne from February 22, 1918, until November 11, 1918. Served with Army of Occupation in Germany. Discharged May 10, 1919, at Camp Grant.
