Son of Mrs. B. Allen, 313 South Ninth street, Springfield. Born May 16, 1897, in Springfield. Entered the service June 1, 1918, in Springfield. Received his training at Great Lakes Naval Station, Navy Yard, Philadelphia, Pa. Sailed overseas August 15, 1918, on the U. S. S. Nearo. Was in the English Channel when the Armistice was signed. Discharged August 6, 1919, at Great Lakes.
