AMBS Boatswain, United States Navy. Son of John and Agnes Ambs, 2412 South Ninth street, Springfield, Ill. Born April 23, 1893, in Springfield. Entered service May 18, 1917. Received his training at Great Lakes Naval Station and at the Torpedo Station, Rhode Island. Assigned to service aboard the U. S. S. Isle Deluzon. Stationed for a time at Halifax, Canada. Was aboard the Isle Deluzon when the Armistice was signed. Discharged August 20 at Great Lakes.
