ASA Private, Medical Corps, Canadian Army. Son of W. P. and N. J. Asa, 524 South Douglas avenue, Springfield. Born September 8, 1893, in Franklin county, Illinois. Entered service in December, 1916, in Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada. Received training at London, Ontario. Sailed overseas March 27, 1917. Acted as stretcher bearer at the battle of Vimy Ridge. Was shell shocked and sent to base hospital in England. Returned to active service in January, 1918, and had recurrence of shell shock. Sent back to England and later placed on duty at the dispensary of the Officers' Hospital, London, England. Not discharged at time of writing.
