HARNEY W. ASHBY
Coxswain, United States Navy. Parents deceased. Address, 541 West Allen street,
Springfield. Born February 18, 1898, in Ohio. Entered service February 18, 1916, in
Springfield. Received his training at the Great Lakes Naval Training Station. Was
assigned to service aboard the Battleship Utah. Was on board the Utah when ship was
wrecked by submarine. Discharged August 15, 1919, in New York.
