AYERS Private, Field Artillery, U. S. A. Son of Edward W. and Belle Ayers, 530 1/2 North Fifth street, Springfield. Born April 23, 1894. Entered service September 20, 1917. Received his training at Camp Taylor and Camp Sevier. Sailed overseas May 26, 1918, on the S. S. Kore. In action on the Toul sector, at St. Mihiel, in the Meuse-Argonne drive, and on the Marne sector. Was at the latter place when the Armistice was signed. Assigned to the Army of Occupation in Luxemburg. Discharged April 10, 1919, at Camp Grant.
