Son of William and Marion Bain, 1805 South First street, Springfield. Born March 27, 1877, in Scotland. Entered service February, 1915, in Windsor, Canada. Received his training at Windsor and London, Ontario, Canada. Sailed overseas April, 1915, on the Olympic. In camp for short time at West Sandilands, England, before going to France. In action at Messines, Yyres, Vimy Ridge, Hill 70, Lens, Cambria, Arras, Somme, Amiens. Received two citations and the British Military Medal. Was in hospital in England when the Armistice was signed. Discharged December 23, 1918, at London, Ontario, Canada.
