Entered service July 7, 1918, in Springfield. Received his training at Jefferson Barracks, Mo., and Camp Joseph E. Johnston, Fla. Sailed overseas September 23, 1918. Was stationed at Camp No. 1, St. Nazaire, France. Was in Dijon, France, when the Armistice was signed. Discharged June 3, 1919, at Long Island, N. Y.
