Army Field Clerk, Adjutant General's Department, U. S. A. Son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H.
Barkley, 718 South Seventh street, Springfield, Ill. Born November 7, 1877, in
Springfield. Entered the service March 26, 1917, as Supply Sergeant, Company C, 5th
Illinois. Appointed Army Field Clerk by the Adjutant General, U. S. Army, April 19,
1918. Discharged December 26, 1918, at Houston, Texas.
