BARKUS Private, 27th Company, S. F., 40th Division, Coast Artillery Corps, U. S. A. Son of Constantin Barkus, 1748 South Second street, Springfield, Ill. Born in Russia, November 1, 1886, and now resides 1723 East Adams street, Springfield. Entered the service July 6, 1914. Received his training at Fort Snelling, Minneapolis, Minn. Sailed to Philippine Islands August 5, 1915, and returned to United States, October 22, 1918. Was at Camp Fremont, Cal., when the Armistice was signed. Discharged January 27, 1919.
