He left his work at the bottom of the shaft and went to the mouth of an old entry on the north side of the mine. As he did not return, one of the bottom men went after him and found him about eight feet in the entry. On inspection a light went out near the roof at about twelve feet and near the bottom at about eight feet in the entry.
