The Schuyler Citizen, April 24, 1873
An Old Citizen Gone
  Mr. Samuel Leonard died at his place near Wayland, in this county, of
pneumonia, on Thursday last, in the seventieth year of his age, leaving a wife
and seven children.  Many years ago he was proprietor of what was known as the
old Skidmore Hotel, on the northeast corner of the square.  He has several years
as the supervisor of Brooklyn township, and has been a leading and influential
citizen of the community where he resided.
