To the County Judge of Scott County Illinois;

        The undersigned your Petitioner  would  respectfully  represent
        that her daughter THUDA L WATERS is a minor  resident  of  said
        county aged Six years on the 14th day of March  AD  1856,  that
        said infant is the child and legal heir of SAMUEL  WATERS  late
        of Marian County, State of Missouri decd; that  said  Minor  is
        entitled to property derived from her said fathers Estate,  not
        exceding in value the sum of Six hundred dollars, in money, now
        in ;the State of Missouri--;that said Minor  has  no  guardian;
        your petitioner therefore prays that your honor will appoint  a
        guardian for said infant to protect  her  interest;  and  would
        recomend ALFRED  GLOSSOP  of  the  County  of  Scott  State  of
        Illinois  as  such  guardian  all  of  which  is   respectfully
        submitted.

        This day appeared before the undersigned clerk  of  the  county
        Court in and for said County, SARA M  GLASSOP,  who  subscribed
        the above Petition my presence, and made oath in  due  form  of
