Obituary of Alexander Finley McLENNAN, Stark County, Illinois This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Maureen Finlayson The funeral services of the late Alexander Finley McLennan, Marshalltown Iowa ,were held in the U.P.Church at Elmira on Tuesday afternoon The decedent was the son of Mr and M rs Duncan McLennan ,two of the highly respected residents of Elmira and vicinity.Alexander moved from this vicinity some five years ago to Iowa where he engaged in farming.Mrs McLennan being formerly Stephana Jackson. MrMcLennan was taken down about two weeks ago with an attack of appendicitis,being an occurrence of a similar attack some years ago.No serious fears were entertained until the close of last week when it was found best to resort to an operation.Mr and Mrs Duncan McLennan were called by telegram to their son’s bedside on last Saturday evening,reaching it a few hours before his death. The body was brought to Toulon on the morning train Monday and taken from there to Elmira where the services were held. Besides his wife and parents, Mr McLennan left two brothers and two little children to mourn for him. A whole community also mourns the departure of a Christian man. The services were conducted by Rev W.J.Drew of the U.P.Church assisted by RevW.H.Foulkes of the Elmira Presbyterian church The deceased was born January 5 ,1873;was married Feb 20 1895 and died June 15, 1902.
