Fifteenth Annual Report of the State Bureau of Labor Statistics, 1896
August 23, 1895, John Limburger, aged 50 years, miner, employed by the Chicago and 
Kansas City Coal Company at their mine in Petersburg. On the morning of the 23d of 
August, while being lowered into the mine, the engineer lost control of the 
engine, causing the cage to strike the bottom with such force that his knee was 
dislocated and the bone of his foot broken. He was removed to Springfield, where 
he died September 30. He left a widow and three children.
