Ex-Alderman W. S. Campbell Is Dead Of Apoplexy William S. Campbell, 59 years old, a well known miner, of 3600 West Main street, former alderman of the fourth ward, died in St. Elizabeth's hospital, Saturday night (19 Dec) at 11 o'clock following an attack of apoplexy. Campbell was well known as a poultry fancier and a judge of poultry. About two weeks ago he acted as judge at a poultry show at Columbia and was stricken with apoplexy a short time after his return home. He was alderman of the fourth ward from 1903 to 1912. Years ago he also worked as a glass blower, although his principal occupation of late years was a coal miner. The deceased was born in Pittsburg, Pa., April 29, 1866, a son of Mr and Mrs. William Campbell, and was united in marriage to Miss Maggie Hankemeyer. Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Dr. William Campbell, Jr., St. Louis (Mo) and Samuel Campbell, Belleville; brothers, Oliver and Thomas Campbell, Belleville and sisters, Mrs. F. S. Burns, Belleville; Mrs. Charles Cooper, St. Charles, Mo.; Mrs. William Diamond, Milwaukee, Wis.; Mrs. Alex Groom and Mrs. Elijah Richards, Belleville. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America, the Liederkranz Society and Glass Blower's Union. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the residence to Walnut Hill cemetery. The Daily Advocate, Belleville, Ill.
