He was a clerk and picture framer for Egyptian Stationary Co. until his retirement in 1971. During his career as a retail clerk at Egyptian Stationary Co., Mr. Young was very active in his union. He served as president ot the Belleville Retail Clerks Local 219 from 1947 to 1957 and secretary-treasurer of the Central Trades and Labor Assembly. He retired from Local 219 in 1957. During his children's school years he served as president of the Washington School PTA and as a delegate to the Parent's Council. He aided a successful promotion of a bond issue for the Belleville Public Grade School System. Mr. Young was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, the St. Clair Masonic Lodge 24 AF & AM and the Belleville Elks Lodge 481. He served on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross, Belleville Unit and the United Fund. He founded the Retail Clerks Retiree Club in 1972. He was also a 1926 Graduate of Ranken Technical School, St. Louis, Mo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Elizabeth, nee Buettner, Young, who he married on Oct. 31, 1927, and who died Dec. 6, 1991; a son, Albert C. Young; his parents, Albert Wilson and Alma, nee Kausing, Young. (Alma's family name is KAYSING/KAISING not KAUSING). Surviving are a daughter, Ann A. Young Of Chesterfield, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Alfred Buettner of Belleville, Ill.; also nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 14, 1994, time pending at the First United Presbyterian Church, Belleville, Ill., with the Rev. Gary Looman officiating. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville, Ill. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, Ill.
