Presbyterian banner & advocate. (Pittsburgh, Pa.) 1855-1860: October 18, 1862
Died September 18th, 1862, in Tazewell County, Ill., after a short illness, Mrs.
Jane H., wife of Wm. B. Merchant, in the 29th year of her age. Mrs. Merchant was the
daughter of Henry Eagleson, for many years a Ruling Elder in the church of Beech
Springs, in Harrison County, Ohio. At the age of sixteen, she united with the
Presbyterian church of Beech Springs, then under the pastoral care of Rev. Wm. S.
Dool. In 1857 she was united in marriage with Mr. W. B. Merchant, and the next year
they removed to Illinois, within the bounds of the congregation of Deer Creek. She
has left a husband and two small children to mourn her loss…
