(Pittsburgh, Pa.) 1860-1898: May 27, 1863 Died May 1st, 1863, at the residence of his father, J. T. Milligan, near Washington, Ill., Calvin B. Milligan, in the 22d year of his age. He was born near Steubenville, Ohio. When he was seven years old, his father removed to Ashland County, Ohio. After living there seven years, he came to Deer Creek, Ill. In July, 1862, this young man enlisted in the 86th Reg't Illinois Vols. He was in the battle of Perryville, and endured much fatigue and exposure during a long march of some hundreds of miles through Kentucky and Tennessee, without either tents or overcoats. He lay in the hospital at Nashville, for over four months. His discharge was obtained only two weeks before his death, and he was then, with difficulty brought home, only to die, after enjoying the sympathy and attention of his father's family for this short period...
