Headline - Mary Howell Published - August 14, 1995 Peoria Journal Star Mary Elizabeth Maple Howell, 85, of Hallmark House Nursing Center died at 2:43 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 1995, at the center. Born April 28, 1910, in Middleton, Tenn., to Rufus and Daisy Yoakum King, she married Charles Glass. He died in March 1952. She then married Earl Maple (his real name was Charles Earl). He died in November 1972. She later married Harley Howell. Surviving are two sons, LaVerne Glass of Frostproof, FL., and James Glass of Mapleton; one daughter, Karen Subatis of Chicago; one brother, Jacob Grubb of Glasford; three sisters, Audrey Burdette of Urbana, Evelyn Polhemus of Peoria and Irene Daub of East Peoria; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-children. One daughter, one sister and six grandchildren preceded her in death. A former member of LaMarsh Baptist church in Mapleton, she was member of Faith Baptist Church in Pekin. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Woolsey Funeral Home in Pekin. The Rev. Rory Bond will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton.
