Obituary Mrs. Joseph (Luise Metzger) Bauer Mrs. Joseph Bauer died at her home on South Main street at 2 o'clock last Saturday afternoon, after along illness. Funeral services were conducted at the residence at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon by Rev. W. E. Browning, and interment made in the Jonesboro cemetery. Luise Metzger was born at Portsmouth, Ohio, July 10, 1846; died at Jonesboro, Ill., March 4, 1922, aged 75 years, 7 months and 24 days. She was the oldest daughter of Adam and Caroline Metzger. Together with her parents, brother and sisters she came to Jonesboro where she had since lived. At the age of 23 she was united in marriage to Joseph Bauer. To this union were born seven children, of whom the five surviving are Mrs. Barbara Schlenker, Mrs. Caroline Zwahlen, Charles, Arthur, and Ernest Bauer. She also leaves fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Carolina Duerkheimer and Mrs. Magdalena Duerkheimer. A few years ago Mrs. and Mrs. Bauer celebrated their golden wedding. He remains, aged and feeble, to mourn the loss of a devoted companion. At an early age she was confirmed into the church at Portsmouth.
