                                             STATE OF ILLINOIS, Nov. 20, 1832.

    I certify that said Chas. L. Dorsey was the Captain commanding said company 
of Mounted Volunteers; that it was necessary that said company should be 
employed for said period, while the excitement occasioned by the affair of Major 
Silliman continued. Said company ranged on the portion of Tazewell county, and 
prevented the settlers from leaving their homes.
