Know all men by these presents, That we, James Palmer & Joseph Delay of the County of Vermilion and State of Illinois, are held and firmly bound unto the people of the State of Illinois, for the use of Abner Delay, Absalom Delay, Elizabeth Delay, William Delay, Presley Delay & Reason Delay, Minor Heirs at law of Lovina Delay, deceased, formerly Lovina Martin, late of the County of Vermilion & State of Illinois, in the ??enal sum of Five Hundred dollars, lawful money of the united States, for the payment of which, well and truly to be made, we hereby bind ourselves one and each of said heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally and firmly by these presents, Sealed with our Seals and dated at Danville in the County of Vermilion this 18th day of September A.D. 1851. The condition of this obligation is such that if the above James Palmer, who has been appointed Guardian for Abner, Absalom, Elizabeth, Presley & Reason, above named, shall faithfully discharge the Office and Trust of such guardian according to law, and shall render a fair and just account of his said Guardianship, to the County Court for the said County of Vermilion from time to time as he shall be thereto required by said court, and comply with all the orders of said Court lawfully made relative to the goods, chattels, all moneys of such minors, and render and pay to said minors, all moneys, goods and chattels, with papers and effects which may come to the hands or possession of such guardian belonging to said minors when said minors shall be the entitled, or to any subsequent Guardian, should such court so enact, then this obligation shall be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. The people of the State of Illinois; to James Palmer, of the County and State aforesaid, Whereas, It has been represented to the County Court, of the County of Vermilion, That Abner, Absalom, Elizabeth, William, Presley & Reason Delay, minor heirs at law of Lovina Delay, formerly Lovina Martin, deceased, are entitled to property and have no guardian, and whereas, we repose special trust and confidence in your ability & integrity, it is therefore ordered by the Court, and by these presents we do make, constitute and appoint the said James Palmer, Guardian of said minor heirs full power and authority to superintend their nurture and education, and for the use, to Wit, demand, sue for levy and receive all and singular their goods, monies, chattels, rights, credits and effects and to preserve the same, and do and transact for them the said minors, and all other things that the law does now, or hereafter may direct, for and during their minority.
