This marked a great change in our style of playing. We had to depend on speed more than height. Five major letter winners and seven minor lettermen from this group of boys were to be the team. Both teams had the old Potomac fighting spirit, hard to defeat. This spirit and the coaching Mr. Alexander gave developed squads in which wonderful team-work was very much in evidence. The teams of P.T.H.S. wish Coach Alec a future filled with success. We feel sure that in the future his teams will be capable of pitting against the best. Another member of our staff should also be given consideration for the success of our teams-Mr. Tennyson, who has donated his services in all activities. Potomac's High School Team was captained by Edward Plotner. It marked the fourth consecutive year in which he has won his letter. The team under Ed's leadership set a new Vermilion County record in going to their fourth consecutive Sectional tournament. Potomac High School with a record of twenty-two wins and six defeats won second place in the Hoopeston Christmas tourney, third in the Vermilion County tournament, second in the Vermilion County League and topped their performance by copping the first regional tournament ever held. Joe Bressler, completing his fourth consecutive year as a member of Potomac's fine teams, earned the position of forward on the Vermilion County All-Star Team for the second consecutive year. Ed Plotner, Harry Sollars, Ross Coil, and Orville Bonebrake were given honorable mention for the All-Star Team. OUR RECORD FOR THE LAST THREE YEARS Year Won Lost 1933-34 23 4 1934-35 24 4 1935-36 22 6 A gold basket ball is given away by Mr. Alexander for the largest percentage of free throws made in all games. This was won by Floyd Coil with an average of 619. We, the team, also take this means of expressing our appreciation of the work done by our cheer-leaders, Maxine Anderson and Forrest Parker. They will never know just how much the sound of the cheering of our classmates and friends helped us on our way to success.
